Breaking Up Is Hard To Do
I was sitting at my pc one saturday afternoon awhile back just doing some idle browsing when I came across a site about breaking up and getting back together. It reminded me about a relationship I had been in a long time ago. At the time I was a 19 year old buck private doing hard time in Viet Nam. At the time I had no idea how hard breaking up is hard to do would be.
When my platoon was standing down I spent most of my time writing letters of undying love to my girl back home. That saying about being out of sight out of mind sure worked against me. The upshot was I recieved my first "Dear John" letter after serving almost 4 months in the Nam.
Flash forward to the present breaking up is hard to do is still true but now with some maturity behind me I can pass on a few ideas of repairing or getting back together in that special relationship. .One point that comes to mind is I should have cut down on my letter generation to say 1 or 2 letters a week. All those letters at one time probably worked toward the idea that I was smoothering her when she wanted a little space.
So what could I have done to get my girl back?
As I wrote earlier I should have cut down on my prolific letter writing and focused on myself and where we could improve on our relationship. Those were trying times on both of us
There would have been a shift in feelings which would have worked to my advantage since I was in a mysterious place far away from home. That would have put my girl in a position of missing me instead of being smoothered with letters.I would be working with human nature rather than against it Giving her a reason to remember why we were in love in the first place. Instead of hearing the old song "Breaking up is hard to do." I would have enjoyed a long and lasting relationship.
